About

We are more than a group of people. We are a movement.

Parents, teachers, students, school administrators, school board members and superintendents across the state are unhappy with what is happening in our public school classrooms. Education reform efforts led by politicians have changed the learning environment, removing autonomy, flexibility and creativity and replacing it with poorly implemented and untested standards and high stakes tests.

It’s time to come together as a state to make a difference. There is strength in numbers. Our voices will be heard if we are collective and cohesive. Join us in a statewide effort to restore Florida’s classrooms and give the power back to where it should be – in the hands of educators and parents.

We Believe…

  • That decisions about public education curriculum and evaluation should be made by experienced educators.
  • That all public education should be high quality and accessible to all children regardless of ethnicity, special needs, income level or academic record or achievement.
  • That parents have a right and responsibility to be actively involved in their children’s educational experience. This includes the right to information about curriculum and assessment methods and the ability to remove their child from an experience that is inappropriate or detrimental to the child.
  • That teachers are not the problem with public education. Supporting teachers by providing adequate funding and training and valuing them as professionals will only serve to improve public education.
  • That education should be individualized and based on learning methods that work best for each child.
  • That public schools should receive equal and adequate funding in order to be able to provide the best educational experience.
  • That districts and schools should provide an environment where parents, teachers and children are free to share their concerns and suggestions about education.

Education reform has many facets, including Common Core State Standards (AKA Florida Standards), pay-for-performance teacher evaluations, high stakes testing, data mining, privatization and charter school expansion. We realize that there are differing opinions about all of these issues. We will share action plans on a variety of topics and allow the public to determine if/how they will respond to each action item based on their beliefs and research.

Together, we will make a difference.
